Recently you ran a story regarding the rescue of one of our dogs in the hills behind Brand Park.

Higgins is now a celebrity. The story was accurate and I very much appreciate the recognition that was properly given to the Montrose Search and Rescue Team. The team is a valuable asset to our community.

I would also like to add my sincere thanks for the assistance given by the city of Glendale. The Parks and Recreation Department was extremely generous through the help of employees at the park who helped in the search. The park rangers were very cooperative and helpful, as well as other agencies who always get involved, such as the police and fire departments, through their work with animal control. Every one of the city employees acted with the highest concern and professionalism.

Our city employees also deserve great recognition and appreciation for the job they do day in and day out. All of us are fortunate and benefit from their dedication.

Yes, a human life was not a stake. But this caring city and our employees well demonstrated their dedication.
